Maryland Transfer Station
Stickers for the transfer station permits are available at the Town Clerk’s Office These permits prove residency or landownership in the Town of Maryland and thus provide access to the Town’s Transfer Station.
Please follow these basic rules for our transfer station:
The sticker needs to be attached on the outside of the vehicle, on the driver’s side (or rear window on the driver’s side). Place on a window that does not roll up and down and does not obstruct the driver’s view. Use care to avoid scraping off the sticker when removing ice or snow.
NO: mattresses or sofa beds; liquid paint or stain; oil; antifreeze or toxic waste
NO: fluorescent or CFL lightbulbs (take these to Home Depot or Lowes)
NO: refrigerators, freezers or air conditioners; NO: electronic appliances (TV’s, computers, etc.)
NO: propane tanks or cylinders (unless fuel and valve have been removed)
NO: vehicles or vehicle parts; batteries; NO: construction debris larger than 2’x2’x2’
NO: dead animals or carcasses; TIRES permitted only on “Tire Day” in May
YES: bagged household garbage
YES: metal waste can go in the appropriate bin on site. This includes metal stoves, washers, dryers, water heaters and dishwashers
YES: recycle cardboard (flattened), clean glass, metal cans or plastic
YES: large furniture and carpets when the roll-off is available as published in the Hometown Advantage
All garbage in pick-up trucks or trailers must be secured or covered with a tarp.

Hours:
Mondays and Saturdays 7:00 am to 1:00 pm

Must be:
A tax payer of the Town of Maryland residing either fill time
part time on the property. Or residing on property,
need proof of residency (Renters)

Must Have:
Sticker affixed to vehicle window on driver's side visible for
attendant but not on windshield,
Separate sticker is needed for each vehicle used,
All loads MUST BE covered NO EXCEPTIONS,
Children must be supervised by an adult at all times,

Other Refuse:
Large furniture and entertainment centers (must be broken down
and flattened), non electronics, washers, dryers, dishwashers,
water heaters, stoves.

Once a Year:
Tires (tires will be announced annually as published in the Hometown Advantage)
​
Electronic Recycling:
at Oneonta Casella transfer station is available for residents
and small businesses, items include TVs, computers and
monitors, keyboards, mouse, cell phones, batteries,
CD/DVD players, gaming equipment, CPU,
miscellaneous electronics.

When the Transfer Station is closed on a Holiday Monday, it will be open the following day
​
